Community Mental Health Worker - Carers and Wellness Connect NPSP programs

Skylight is recruiting a Community Mental Health Worker to work within the Carers and Wellness Connect NPSP programs.  The Community Mental Health Worker will work closely with participants to promote recovery, inspire hope and facilitate a process wherein participants can work toward their goals.

This role is classified at SACS Level 4, 0.6 – 0.8 fte and a Maximum Term Contract until June 2023. The role will be based at Skylight Elizabeth, servicing multiple areas of the South Australian metropolitan region.

Both programs provide short term 1:1 support. The Community Mental Health Worker may support participants to:

  • Identify their strengths
  • Build resilience
  • Achieve goals
  • Link in with people to help improve their wellbeing
  • Connect with family or with community
  • Explore accessing the NDIS or DSP
  • Enjoy a full and vibrant quality of life.

Requirements for Success

  • Qualifications or experience relevant to mental health
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of mental health challenges 
  • Capacity to work both autonomously and within teams
  • Experience with person centred  and recovery oriented frameworks
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs and relevant software
  • DHS Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Check – Apply Here
  • Must have full schedule of COVID vaccinations, as mandated by the South Australian Government.
  • Understanding of NDIS application process desirable

  3. The Wellness Connect NPSP and Carers Support programs are short, time-limited programs. Please describe your understanding of capacity building and how would you engage with someone to ensure you can meet goals within timeframes.
