Skylight Mental Health is Open for Business! 26 March 2020

During this most challenging of times, Skylight understands that mental health support is more crucial than ever.

Every person on the planet is being directed to minimise contact with others, and many people are completely isolated in their homes, without their usual community centre to visit, friends to catch up with or nearby mall to wander through and we are all working hard to adapt as quickly as possible.

Skylight is continuing with a range of face to face and phone or video services, including:

  • Support Coordination,
  • Service Design meetings,
  • Telephone counselling,
  • Individual community support,
  • On-line resources

There is much more to come. Most Skylight staff are working on-line ourselves and are quickly familiarizing ourselves with new ways of working from home so that our services are not only maintained but actually ramp up at this time of need. Skylight staff are literally working overtime to respond to ideas from our staff and participants alike, to plan, design, resource and implement and deliver new services that will meet your needs in the best way possible at this challenging time.

Supporting our community through COVID-19

We want to support our community to stay safe and get through this.

We acknowledge the potential for increased anxiety and feelings of loneliness in a time where ‘Social Distancing’ and ‘Self Isolation' are considered the solution rather than the problem. Things seem upside down.

During this period, we continue to provide modified services while minimising risk to participants and carers, staff, and the extended community. We will continue to take our direction from reputable authorities, including SA Health and Wellbeing and the Commonwealth Department of Health, and will review new information daily. 

While modified one to one services continue with participant consent, we have made the decision to cancel all group programs, non-essential meetings and events across all our sites as a precaution.

Those impacted by these cancellations will have been or will be contacted to discuss alternative options of support.

To maintain services in the community, Skylight is trialling a range of ways to support ongoing community work and working from home arrangements. These are designed to balance the needs of service continuity and to achieve high levels of social distancing and isolation.
