For over three decades, MIFSA has proudly provided services and support for people with mental illness, their families and friends. Our rich history includes the merger of two organisations and name changes that include the Schizophrenia Fellowship of South Australia, Self-Help (MDP), Mood Disorders Association and for the past 15 years the Mental Illness Fellowship South Australia (MIFSA).
Our name has served us well during these years. However, with the variety of new challenges facing businesses today and the new ways in which participants will choose services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the MIFSA Board decided the time was right to explore a name change and brand refresh for MIFSA. We wanted to ensure the new name and brand is memorable, distinctive and positively accepted by a broad range of stakeholders. We want to stand out in an increasingly competitive and crowded market place.
MIFSA engaged Nation to review our brand: we ran three workshops involving key stakeholders including participants, staff , Board members, volunteers and members; fi ve staff workshops; members were invited to provide input, and all feedback was collated and considered throughout the process.
In the coming weeks and months, you will notice changes which refl ect our new name: Skylight Mental Health, however the quality support and services you have come to expect from MIFSA remain unchanged from Skylight. We will continue to deliver outstanding services for people with mental illness, carers and families.
Embracing Skylight is so much more than a name and logo change. It will take some time as we bring Skylight to life with our shared stories and achievements. The Skylight team continues to be staff working alongside participants, the Board, volunteers and members. Together we will bring value to the Skylight name, brand and visual identity.
